Testing Methodology

Every casino featured on this site has been independently tested with real money by Douglas Mawson. This page details the exact process, criteria, and standards applied to each platform evaluation. No casino is listed based on operator claims alone — inclusion requires passing all six criteria below.

Overview

For the current guide (Casinos Not on BetStop in 2026), 23 offshore platforms were tested between January and March 2026. 20 platforms passed all six criteria and are included in the published rankings. 3 platforms were excluded based on specific test failures: one for an unverifiable licence claim, one for withdrawal processing exceeding the stated timeframe by over 200%, and one for live chat non-responsiveness during a 72-hour test window.

Total real-money spend for this testing cycle: $4,200 AUD across deposits and withdrawals.

The Six Evaluation Criteria

Criterion 1: Licensing Verification

What we check: Every licence number stated on the casino's website is manually verified against the issuing authority's public register on the date of testing.

Sources used:

  • Curaçao GCB: gcb.cw — OGL licence number lookup
  • Legacy Curaçao 8048/JAZ: Master licence holder verification via Antillephone N.V. records
  • Anjouan Gaming Authority: ALSI-prefix licence register search
  • Kahnawake Gaming Commission: gamingcommission.ca — public licence list
  • PAGCOR (Philippines): PAGCOR public licence verification portal

Pass/fail: If the licence number cannot be verified on the issuing authority's public register at the time of testing, the casino is automatically excluded. Expired licences = exclusion. Licence number format inconsistencies flagged and re-verified before decision.

Criterion 2: Real-Money Deposit Test

What we do: A minimum of $30 AUD is deposited via at least two different payment methods per site (e.g., PayID + Bitcoin, or Visa + Skrill).

What we record: Exact deposit time (AEDT, to the second), time to credit confirmation (on-screen balance update + email notification), any processing delays or pending statuses, and payment method availability verification against advertised methods.

Pass/fail: Deposits must process within the timeframe stated on the casino's payment page. If the advertised "instant" deposit takes more than 5 minutes for fiat methods or more than 30 minutes for crypto (excluding blockchain confirmation time), this is flagged.

Criterion 3: Withdrawal Test

What we do: After partial wagering of deposited funds, a withdrawal is requested. Processing time is measured from the exact moment the withdrawal request is submitted to the exact moment funds are confirmed received in the destination wallet, bank account, or e-wallet.

Critical distinction: We measure time to confirmed receipt — not the operator's internal "approved" status, which can precede actual fund transfer by hours. This is the most common area where operator-stated and real-world timelines diverge.

What we record: Withdrawal request timestamp, method used, any KYC verification triggered, time to operator approval, time to confirmed receipt, total elapsed time, and any discrepancies vs. stated processing windows.

Pass/fail: If actual withdrawal time exceeds the stated processing window by more than 100%, the casino is excluded. Example: a casino stating "1-6 hours" that delivers in 13+ hours fails this criterion.

Criterion 4: Support Test

What we do: Live chat is contacted under a realistic scenario — typically a withdrawal dispute question ("My withdrawal has been pending for X hours, can you confirm the status and expected processing time?") or a bonus eligibility query.

What we record: Response time (time from message sent to first agent response), quality of response (did the agent address the specific question?), resolution offered, and escalation process if initial response was insufficient.

Pass/fail: If live chat fails to respond within 30 minutes during stated operating hours, or if the agent provides materially inaccurate information about bonus terms or withdrawal policies, this is flagged. Complete non-responsiveness across a 72-hour window = exclusion.

Criterion 5: RNG Certification Check

What we check: Whether the casino's games are certified by a recognised independent testing laboratory — specifically eCOGRA, iTech Labs, or BMM Testlabs.

How we verify: Certification status is checked directly on the certifier's own database or published seal registry — not taken from the casino's claims or footer badges alone. If a casino displays an eCOGRA seal but the casino is not listed in eCOGRA's public certificate registry, the seal is treated as unverified.

Pass/fail: Absence of verifiable RNG certification does not result in automatic exclusion if the casino partners with tier-1 providers (Pragmatic Play, Evolution, NetEnt, Microgaming) whose games are independently audited at the provider level. However, unverified certification claims are flagged in the review.

Criterion 6: SSL Verification

What we do: Every casino domain is tested via Qualys SSL Labs server test.

Minimum standard: TLS 1.2 or higher with an overall rating of A or A+.

Pass/fail: Any domain returning a rating below A is excluded. Domains with expired SSL certificates are excluded. Domains with mixed content warnings (HTTP resources loaded on HTTPS pages) are flagged.

Ranking Methodology

After all 20 passing platforms are confirmed, rankings are assigned based on a weighted composite of five factors:

  • Bonus value (25%): True value in cents per dollar wagered, factoring in wagering requirements, game weightings, and caps.
  • Withdrawal speed (25%): Confirmed time from request to receipt across tested methods.
  • Game library depth (20%): Total verified titles, provider diversity, and high-RTP selection availability.
  • Licence quality (15%): Curaçao GCB OGL (post-2023) ranks highest; legacy frameworks and Anjouan rank lower.
  • User experience (15%): Registration friction, mobile performance, support quality, and payment method breadth.

Currency Conversion

Where bonuses are denominated in EUR, conversion to AUD uses the exchange rate observed on the date of testing (March 2026: 1 EUR ≈ 1.65 AUD). Actual values will vary with exchange rate fluctuations. AUD-denominated bonuses are compared at face value without conversion.

Update Cycle

All reviews are updated on a quarterly basis (January, April, July, October). Between scheduled updates, material changes (licence revocations, domain blocks, bonus term changes) are applied within 48 hours of verified discovery. Each update is logged in the page changelog at the bottom of the main guide.

Limitations and Disclosures

Affiliate relationships: This site earns commission through affiliate links. If a reader registers and deposits at a listed casino via our link, we may receive a commission at no cost to the reader. Commission relationships do not influence inclusion criteria, test methodology, or ranking positions. Three platforms tested during this cycle were excluded despite having active affiliate relationships — performance failure overrides commercial interest.

Testing scope: Each platform is tested with a limited number of transactions. Our results represent a snapshot of performance during the testing window — operator performance can vary over time. Readers should treat our findings as data points, not guarantees.

Geographic scope: All testing is conducted from an Australian IP address using Australian payment methods (PayID, Australian-issued Visa/Mastercard, AUD crypto deposits). Results may differ for players in other jurisdictions.

Corrections

If you identify a factual error in any review — incorrect licence number, outdated bonus terms, or inaccurate withdrawal times — submit a correction via [email protected]. Include the specific claim, the correct information, and a verifiable source. Verified corrections are applied within 48 hours with a changelog note.
